Once you have thought about the answers to these questions, you should make a list of the nanny’s pros and cons. For example:

She was wonderful with our baby, Emma. She was very warm, affectionate, and sweet and did a good job of keeping her happy and entertained.

But she really struggled with our toddler, Josh. She did not know how to motivate him, and getting him dressed in the morning and bath time were total chaos.

After you’ve made your list, focus on the cons and, just as you did after the interview, try to determine which ones are fixable, and which are not. As discussed in Chapter 6, fixable cons are anything that can be remedied with teaching or training; non-fixable cons are anything that is personality based and thus unlikely to change.
